Wig for Medical Reasons

Wigs can be used in the medical setting for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Hair loss due to chemotherapy: Many cancer patients undergo chemotherapy, which can cause hair loss. Wigs can provide a natural-looking alternative to help patients feel more comfortable and confident during treatment.
  • Alopecia: Alopecia is a medical condition that causes hair loss. Wigs can be used to help people with alopecia feel more comfortable and confident in public.
  • Scalp cooling: Some cancer patients use scalp cooling to reduce the risk of hair loss during chemotherapy. Wigs can be used to cover the hair that is not affected by the scalp cooling process.
  • Burn victims: Patients who have suffered severe burns may have lost hair on their scalp or face. Wigs can be used to help these patients feel more comfortable in public and to cover scars.
  • Cosmetic procedures: Some medical procedures, such as hair transplants, require the patient to shave their head. Wigs can be used to cover the shaved area while the patient recovers.
  • Overall, wigs can be a valuable tool in the medical setting, providing comfort, confidence, and a sense of normalcy for patients who may be dealing with difficult medical conditions.

Differences in Hair Type

Raw Vietnamese hair, Virgin hair, Remy hair (Human Hair), and synthetic hair are all types of hair used for wigs and hair extensions, but they differ in terms of their quality, durability, and price.

  1. Raw Vietnamese hair: Raw Vietnamese hair refers to hair that is collected from donors in Vietnam, without undergoing any processing and it is collected from a single donor to ensure uniformity in color and texture It is considered to be high-quality hair, as it is thick, soft, and has a natural wave pattern. Raw Vietnamese hair is also known for being durable and long-lasting.
  2. Virgin hair: Virgin hair also 100% human hair, but it can come from several donors. Virgin hair is not chemically treated or colored, but steamed to create different textures.

Steam processing uses filtered water to create steam/vapor, opening the cuticle and making the hair more impressionable and easier to train.

This method keeps the hair in the virgin state with intentions to make the hair more beautiful and easier to maintain, than Raw Hair all while keeping the cuticles aligned and intact.

Virgin hair comes in different grades (qualities) because of differences in the texture, quality, and origin of the hair, how the hair is sourced, how it is collected, and how it is processed. Higher-grade hair is usually more expensive because it is of better quality and is more durable. Lower-grade hair may be less expensive, but it may not last as long as higher-grade hair.

  3. Human hair: Human hair(Remy Hair) extensions are made from real human hair that has been collected from donors. Unlike virgin hair, human hair have undergone some processing, such as being colored or chemically treated. Human hair extensions are available in a variety of textures and colors, but may not have the same natural shine and durability as virgin hair.

  4. Synthetic hair: Synthetic hair extensions are made from synthetic fibers that are designed to look and feel like Human hair. They are less expensive than human hair extensions and come in a wide range of colors and styles. However, synthetic hair does not have the same natural look and feel as real hair, and may not be as durable or long-lasting.

Overall, the main differences between these types of hair are their quality, durability, and price. Raw Vietnamese and virgin hair are the highest quality and most expensive, while synthetic hair is the least expensive but also the least durable and versatile. Human hair falls somewhere in between in terms of quality and price.

Lace Frontal or Lace Closure

A wig frontal and a wig closure are both types of hairpieces that are used to create a natural-looking hairline when wearing a wig. However, they differ in terms of their size, placement, and the amount of coverage they provide.

A wig frontal is a hairpiece that is designed to cover the entire front hairline, from ear to ear, allowing you to create a natural-looking hairline that looks like your own hair. It typically measures about 13 inches across and 4or 6 inches back, and it is sewn onto the wig cap, leaving a small amount of your own hair visible around the perimeter.

A wig closure, on the other hand, is a smaller hairpiece that is designed to cover only the crown of the head, where the wig will be parted. It typically measures about 4x4 inches, 5x5 inches or 6x6 inches and is sewn onto the wig cap in the area where you plan to create the part. This creates the illusion of a natural scalp, and it allows you to part your wig in different directions.

So, the main difference between a wig frontal and a wig closure is the size and placement of the hairpiece, as well as the amount of coverage it provides. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on your personal preferences and the look you are trying to achieve.
